Job Title: Logistics Specialist - South Sudan Programme, Kenya (Nairobi) with Frequent Travel to Juba (South Sudan)

ABOUT REDR
Each year millions of people around the world feel the effects of natural disaster and conflict. RedR is an international charity that improves the effectiveness of disaster relief, helping save and rebuild the lives of people affected by disaster worldwide.
RedR UK have received funding to establish a country programme in South Sudan (Juba based) managed from Nairobi, Kenya. The programme will employ approximately 35 national and international staff and deliver a number of training events to NGO staff, their partner organisations and other relevant humanitarian actors concerning Staff Welfare, Security Safety and Security and Technical/Basic Humanitarian Practice.
THE ROLE
The Logistics Specialist will be responsible for establishing and implementing logistics systems and procedures in line with organisational and donor requirements. This will involve managing the set up of RedR's offices, housing and logistics function in South Sudan (Juba) and the support office in Nairobi, Kenya. PERSON SPECIFICATION
At least 3 years relevant international experience in a logistics function in the field at an appropriate level, with sound understanding of working with an international NGO.
Understanding of set up processes and procedures.
Technical knowledge to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post.
Proven ability to provide support, guidance and training to colleagues.
Communication and reporting skills (verbal and in writing).
Experience of working in a cross-cultural environment and in insecure or complex environments.
Ability to work to deadlines with good prioritisation and time management skills.
Good computer literacy, with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
Fluency in English
TERMS
Location: Based in Kenya (Nairobi) with frequent travel to Juba (South Sudan)
Contract: Fixed term until end of August 2011
Salary: £26- 28,000 p/a (plus accommodation and other benefits)
Start date: Immediate
