1 Vacancy will remain open for at least two weeks, or until it is filled. Preference will be given to internal candidates who are at the same grade as the post being advertised, then to internal candidates one grade below the post, and finally to external candidates.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Officer, the Vehicle Technician will be responsible for carrying out schedule and unscheduled services and repairs on standard civilian pattern commercial vehicles in accordance with vehicle manufacture standards and ensures that all relevant safety procedures have been followed when repairing and fitting replacement spare parts. To this end the incumbent shall perform the following duties:
• Perform routine vehicle scheduled maintenance as per manufacturer’s recommendations.
• Overhaul and reconditioning work on engines, gearboxes and transmission drive axles, steering and braking systems of motor vehicles when necessary
• Diagnose and rectify various motor vehicle faults and failures, including electrical components such as alternators and starter motors
• Undertake repair and maintenance of light utility vehicles, sedans, heavy trucks and trailers.
• Drive recovery truck and recover breakdown vehicles
• Perform various other duties as directed by the workshop Supervisor.

Other – Ability to operate independently in austere environment for protracted periods.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technician College qualifications as Motor vehicle Technician (National Certificate or equivalent). Valid driving license for all classes of vehicles.
Experience: At least four (4) years of relevant apprenticeship/work experience. Must possess sound knowledge of motor vehicle steering geometry and the functioning principles of braking systems. Must be familiar with the guidelines and procedures relative to the safe operation of workshop equipment such as vehicle lifts, engine hoist and various other electrical, pneumatics and hydraulic equipment.
Language Skills: Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of other South Sudanese national languages would be an advantage.
